Here's how a spam filter works: there are hundreds of different 'rules' that the server uses to check against incoming emails. Each 'rule' that it matches incurs a score. The higher the final score, the more likely it is to be spam. However, sometimes real emails can get recognised as spam, and vice versa. Emails recognised as spam are temporarily quarantined in the 'Spam' folder for seven days before deletion.
There are a number of changes you can make via CoolMail to allow you to fine tune how the spam checking works. Once you've logged into CoolMail (coolmail.acenet.com.au), click on the 'Settings' link as shown below, and then click the 'Spam Settings' button in the left-hand menu.

To add an email address to the 'Trusted Senders' list (whitelist), simply go the 'Trusted Senders' section, enter the email address and click the 'Add' button. This means that emails from this address will totally bypass the spam filter and will always be delivered to your inbox, no matter what.
Change the 'Spam Detection Level'You can easily change the Detection Level score via the interface. The lower the score, the more strict the filtering. Please note however, that if your filter is more strict, then there is an increased risk of the filter capturing 'real' emails.

If you only get emails from the same email addresses all the time, then putting them in the 'Trusted Senders' list and making the detection more strict may be a good way to minimise your spam.
In general, a spam detection score of 3 or 4 is about right. Anything higher and you'll probably have to check the spam folder on a regular basis to ensure no 'real' emails have been caught.
